Hermès Scarf 90 cm – Armes de Chasse – Philippe Ledoux (1970, reissued 1981)
VENDU
Against a backdrop of hunting scenes that seem to come straight from a painting by Jean-Baptiste Oudry, Philippe Ledoux depicts in the foreground of Armes de Chasse (Hunting Weapons) four examples of the venery dagger. Dating from the second half of the 18th century, this dagger is also called a hunting knife. The length of this weapon, which is almost a sword, corresponds to its use for big game such as stag.
