Art and History of this Hermès Scarf

The Les Cavaliers d'Or scarf was designed to accompany the exhibition “Scythian Gold,” presented in New York and then at the Grand Palais in Paris in 1976. It celebrates the ornamental art of the Scythians, formidable horsemen and talented goldsmiths, whose sumptuous jewelry had a lasting influence on European styles. On the silk, one finds intricately carved combs, gold pectorals, protective amulets, and finely decorated harnesses. A square scarf that testifies to the union of ancient history and timeless elegance.
